Spiced Lamb Skewers

Spiced Lamb Skewers

Spicy marinated lamb skewers with a side of sweet potato fries.

  • Preheat the oven to 200°C.

  • Place lamb cubes in a bowl with a mixture of spices of your choice; cumin, crushed coriander seeds, cinnamon, turmeric, nutmeg, dried chili, and salt and pepper – are a great mix – with a few dollops of yoghurt. Mix thoroughly and leave to marinate for at least 20 minutes and up to overnight in the fridge

  • Do this step just before cooking the lamb. Slice sweet potatoes into chips and par boil for 10-15 minutes until al dente. Then drain and dry thoroughly, coat in oil and season to taste. Bake in the oven for 10-20 minutes until golden brown and crispy.

  • Slide the marinated lamb onto skewers and cook on a braai or grill in the oven – turning frequently.

  • Serve the sweet potato chips alongside the skewers and a fresh garden salad of greens.

Sweet potatoes are a rich source of fibre as well as containing an array of vitamins and minerals including iron, calcium, selenium, and they're a good source of most of B vitamins and vitamin C.
